What are PIDS and why they are so important

Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS) are outdoor perimeter intrusion detection sensors designed to detect intruders crossing a particular boundary or entering a protected zone. They are definitely your first line of defense.

The sensors can be placed in clear zones, e.g. open fields, around buildings or along fence lines. Exterior sensors must be resilient enough not only to withstand outdoor weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, dust, rain, sleet and snow, but also reliable enough to detect intrusion during such harsh environmental conditions.

Most sites have a unique set of environmental factors which are taken into consideration when designing the system, selecting the sensors, and performing the installation. Failure to consider all the factors can result in excessive “false alarms” and/or “holes” in the system.
